Topic: Temporary Halt of GOME-2 Total Ozone Product Transmission Satellite(s) Involved: METOP Instrument(s) Involved: GOME-2 Product(s) Involved/Affected: NESDIS Total Ozone in binary or BUFR format, and MgII Index Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation: Outage expected to start Mar 3, 2009, ~0800 UTC and continue until Mar 4, ~1745 UTC (sensing time) Contact Person(s) Name/Email/Phone Number for Questions: Donna.McNamara@xxxxxxxx 301-763-8142 ext. 145 Web site(s) that contain other relevant information (where applicable): http://www.osdpd.noaa.gov/ml/air/gome.html Details/Specifics of Change: EUMETSAT announced a planned outage of GOME-2 data in order to install a software patch. Later today we will be installing a check to stop the flow of the data whenever EUMETSAT flags it as degraded, which will happen during this planned outage on Mar 3-4. For several orbits priorto the outage, we expect some lost data over the equatorial regions. This data is also being flagged as degraded, but that problem is
expected to be fixed as part of the software patch. EUMETSAT warns that the outage may last a little longer than planned if they are unable tocomplete their recalibration during the planned window. -- Donna P.
