Parts of the scheduled SREF model upgrade (which was implemented as advertised at 12Z on Oct. 27) had to be withdrawn on Oct. 28 at 17Z. The parts which were withdrawn were to produce tropical cyclone tracks from the SREF. This was new functionality which did not exist in the earlier SREF, and it was withdrawn due to a negative impact on the NDAS tropical cyclone relocator and potential negative impact on the HWRF tracker. EMC, GFDL, and NCO are working together to resolve these problems. A new date for implementation of this functionality will be posted as soon as changes are made and tested.
