-------- Original Message -------- Hi All, EMC is planning an upgrade to the Global GSI, I believe during Q2 of FY2011. Due to the increased job load on NCEP's Central Computer System (CCS), NCO is unable to run the GDAS and GFS in parallel at the same time as the operational GDAS and GFS on our production CCS. We have 2 options. The first is to offset the parallel by 2 hours, still running it on our production CCS. The 2nd is to run the parallel simultaneously with the production version, but instead take the backup CCS to do so. Option 2 has many complications associated with it, both from production and development points of view. Option 1 is preferred by NCEP, but we need to know if you, the evaluators, have the ability to still do a proper evaluation of the upgrade if the parallel output is offset from the production output by 2 hrs. Please let me know if a 2 hr offset is acceptable to you. We will be facing this issue again as we continue with model upgrades on our increasingly-full system. Thanks, and have a happy Thanksgiving, Chris
