Subject: Amended: Removal of NCEP Model Analysis and Forecast
           Webpage: Effective August 30, 2011

Amended to reschedule the removal of the Model Analysis and
Forecast Webpage until August 30, 2011, to give customers more
time to acclimate to the Model Analysis and Guidance (MAG)
webpage. Note that the MAG was declared operational on March 15
as scheduled.

On or about Tuesday, August 30, 2011, the National Centers for
Environmental Prediction (NCEP) will remove the Model Analysis
and Forecast (MAF) webpages currently available at:

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/

The NWS recently issued a Public Information Statement
announcing NCEPs new experimental MAG website:

http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov

The MAF and MAG websites showcase the NWS suite of graphical
numerical model analyses and guidance and observational
database. Based on the comments received from the PNS, NCEP is
moving forward with the plan to declare the MAG operational on
Tuesday, March 15, and remove the older MAF website and all of
its contents on Tuesday, August 30.

In preparation for the removal of the MAF website, NCEP will
replace the images available on the MAF with those generated by
the MAG on Tuesday, March 15. This change will affect the
images retrieved. The images may look different from those
previously available on the MAF. In particular, the image size
on the MAG is set to medium resolution: 1024 x 768. This means
the image links labeled "course" and "fine" on the MAF will now
default to the "medium" image.

After March 15, during periods when the numerical models are
running and producing output, images on the MAF may lead (be
available sooner than MAF indicates), lag (not be available as
quickly), or not be available for a few minutes.

A document is provided on the MAG website to guide users in
transitioning to the new MAG-provided static image links. Users
are strongly encouraged to transition to the new static image
links when they become available.
