-------- Original Message -------- 745 NOUS41 KWBC 241101 PNSWSH Technical Implementation Notice 11-17 Amended National Weather Service Headquarters Washington DC 700 AM EDT Fri Jun 24 2011 To: Subscribers: -Family of Services -NOAA Weather Wire Service -Emergency Managers Weather Information Network -NOAAPORT Other NWS Partners, Users and Employees From: Michelle Mainelli Chief, Systems Integration Branch NCEP Central Operations Subject: Amended: Enhancements to the MAG Website: Delayed Until July 14, 2011 Amended to delay effective date until July 14, 2011. Effective Monday July 14, 2011, the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) will make enhancements to the Model Analysis and Guidance (MAG) website. The MAG showcases the NWS suite of graphical numerical model analyses and guidance and observational database. It is online at: http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov Three enhancements will be implemented on the MAG: 1. Multiple image sizes will be made available on the MAG for North America, the Western North Atlantic, and the Northern Pacific geographic areas for the same models that were available on the legacy Model Analysis and Forecast (MAF) website. Images will default to the currently-available medium size (1024 x 768). Additional image size choices will be made available: coarse (640 x 480) and fine (1280 x 1024). 2. Four-panel charts will be made available on the MAG for the Global Forecast System (GFS) and the North American Mesoscale (NAM) models. 3. The top level page of the MAG will be modified. Default selections, a reorganization of the Model Type and Model Area choices, and a change in the method used to select forecast hour and loops will allow selection of images with fewer mouse clicks. The ability to retain previous choices and enhanced controls for moving between forecast hours in a series will allow users to more quickly get to product images. Forecast hour and loop option selections will be through a table of available hours and loop options similar to the old MAF site. For more information and updates, please refer to the MAGs Latest Information and News document, at: http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov/GemPakTier/MagQCDoc/whats_new.pdf For comments regarding these changes, please contact: Bradley Mabe NCEP/NCO Systems Integration Branch Camp Springs, Maryland mag.helpdesk@xxxxxxxx NWS National Technical Implementation Notices are online at: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/notif.htm $$
