-------- Original Message -------- 125 NOUS41 KWBC 261256 PNSWSH Service Change Notice 11-30 National Weather Service Headquarters Washington DC 850 AM EDT Fri Aug 26 2011 To: Subscribers: -Family of Services -NOAA Weather Wire Service -Emergency Managers Weather Information Network -NOAAPORT Other NWS Partners, Users and Employees From: Therese Z. Pierce Chief, Marine and Coastal Weather Services Subject: Relocation of National Data Buoy Center buoy 41002 on or about November 1, 2011 On or about November 1, 2011, the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) will relocate buoy 41002 to approximately 32.0 N and 75.0 W. The new location will be 30 nautical miles southeast of its current position at 32.3 N and 75.5 W. The buoy frequently goes adrift due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream making its data unavailable. The buoy last went adrift on May 2, 2010, and was recovered on May 12, 2010, but has not been able to report data in that time. The proposed new location is further from the Gulf Stream and thus will alleviate the problem of the buoy going adrift and return it to normal data reporting. Further information on buoy 41002 can be found at: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41002 If you have any questions or comments on buoy 41002, please send, by September 30, 2011, to the following e-mail address with the subject line "Relocation of Buoy 41002:" Marine.Weather@xxxxxxxx For more information, contact: Wayne Presnell/OS21 Meteorologist, National Weather Service Silver Spring, MD 20910 301-713-1677, ext. 103 wayne.presnell@xxxxxxxx National Public Information Notices are online at: http://www.weather.gov/os/notif.htm $$
