Subject: Redirection of Select Internet Aviation Data Services
Starting on or About April 4, 2012
NWS will start to redirect legacy Web pages that contain coded
aviation oriented weather data to alternative Web pages
containing the same information starting on or about April 4,
2012. This change eliminates duplication and reduces operational
costs.
These changes will focus on data available from this page:
http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/coded.html
METAR data will be redirected to:
http://www.aviationweather.gov/adds/metars/
TAF data will be redirected to:
http://www.aviationweather.gov/adds/tafs/
Announcements will be placed on these pages starting the first
week of March. This announcement will explain the purpose of
the redirect.
Once in place, the redirection will send an http response code
of 301 Moved Permanently.
Users of aviation data are encouraged to use the Aviation
Weather site, maintained by the NWS Aviation Weather Center.
This site is the central location for aviation weather data and
is the only NWS Website certified as a Qualified Internet
Communications Provider (QICP) by the Federal Aviation
Administration.
