-------- Original Message -------- 294 NOUS41 KWBC 111732 PNSWSH Service Change Notice 12-20 National Weather Service Headquarters Washington DC 132 PM EDT Fri May 11 2012 To: Subscribers: -Family of Services -NOAA Weather Wire Service -Emergency Managers Weather Information Network -NOAAPORT Other NWS Partners and NWS Employees From: Mark Tew Chief, Marine and Coastal Weather Services Branch Subject: Changes to Coastal Marine Zone Boundaries Off Southern California Effective October 2, 2012 Effective Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at 11:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), 2:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), 1800 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the NWS Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Los Angeles/Oxnard, CA (LOX) will reconfigure marine zones PZZ670, Point Piedras Blancas to Pt Arguello out to 60 NM, and PZZ673, Point Arguello to Santa Cruz Island and Westward 60 NM. The current marine zone, Point Piedras Blancas to Pt Arguello out to 60 NM (PZZ670), will be split into two separate zones as follows a new marine zone, PZZ645 will extend from Point Piedras Blancas to Point Sal westward out to 10 NM. The current marine zone PZZ670 will be reconfigured to extend from Point Piedras Blancas to Point Sal from 10 to 60 NM out. PZZ673 will be reconfigured to shift its northern boundary from Point Arguello to Point Sal, to better conform to typical marine weather conditions in the area. The purpose of these changes is to improve marine weather services for NWS users and partners. Table 1 lists the current marine zones and corresponding Universal Geographic Codes (UGC) for which WFO Los Angeles/Oxnard (LOX) issues forecasts and warnings. Table 2 lists the marine zones and corresponding Universal Geographic Codes (UGC) for which WFO LOX will issue forecasts and warnings effective October 2, 2012. Table 3 lists all of the products issued by WFO LOX that will be affected by the marine zone changes. Table 1.
