Szkil Chief, Awareness Branch Performance and Awareness Division Office of Climate, Water, and Weather Services Subject: Wireless Emergency Alerts Rollout Date Revised Amended to move start date to on or shortly after June 27, 2012. At that time, NWS will pass through alerts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) to the Commercial Mobile Alert System. This system is also known as Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA). The rollout date was revised in order to resolve a connectivity issue between NWS and FEMA.
