NWS is soliciting comments on the Experimental World Area Forecast System Grids (WAFS) Visualization from June 26, 2013, to July 26, 2013. The Experimental WAFS Grids Visualization is a set of graphics created from existing WAFS grids, part of the existing NWS product suite. These gridded forecasts are produced and disseminated operationally in the GRIB2 data format. This experimental website will allow the gridded data to be displayed as a multi-colored image with a color-coded key provided to relate the colors to numerical values. The images will be provided for each time step and level in the WAFS Global Grids. The Experimental WAFS Grids Visualization provides GRIB2 coded format in a properly decoded and graphically displayed format. It will also support NWS World Area Forecast Center (WAFC) forecasters produce High and Midlevel Significant Weather (SIGWX) charts consistent with the WAFS Global Grids GRIB2 formatted forecasts.
