Kind Regards, Josh Young Community Services Manager, Unidata 303-497-8646 **** FROM: Christopher Strager Acting Director, NWS Office of Climate, Water and Weather Services SUBJECT: Seeking Comments on Revised Service Description (SDD) Document for Proposed Enhanced Impact-Based Decision Support Services for the Emergency Management Community NWS is soliciting comments by August 31, 2014, on an SDD describing proposed enhanced impact-based decision support services (IDSS) for the emergency management community and other government core partners. These services support events and incidents impacting the safety of life and property. This SDD is a revision of an earlier version of the document available for comment between May 24 and September 23, 2013. The document was revised based on comments received and on stakeholder interactions early in 2014. An analysis of comments received is available at: http://weather.gov/sp/SDD_IDSS_Version_1_Comment_Response.pdf To address NWS enhancements to IDSS, NWS will be providing a series of Service Description Documents describing to whom we plan to provide our services and what types of decisions we plan to support. The SDD addressed in this notice concerns IDSS for the emergency management community and other government core partners. In response to comments, this SDD revision more accurately describes the role of NWS support within the context of the overall weather enterprise support. In addition, the scope of support includes government partners who don't fall within the EM community, such as the FAA, but whom NWS has traditionally worked with to support such events and incidents impacting the safety of life and property. The revised SDD may be accessed at: http://weather.gov/sp/idss_sdd_emc_Version_2.pdf Please provide comments on the document by August 31, 2014 to: nws.idss.comments@xxxxxxxx <mailto:nws.idss.comments@xxxxxxxx> For comments or questions about this notice, please contact: Wendy Levine National Weather Service Silver Spring Maryland 20910 301-427-9062 wendy.levine@xxxxxxxx <mailto:wendy.levine@xxxxxxxx> National Public Information Statements are online at: http://www.weather.gov/os/notif.htm
