Thanks.
You can subscribe to the THREDDS list from the Unidata mailing list
page, http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/support/mailinglist/mailing-list-form.html
We have installed the THREDDS V3.8 but haven't obtained any data
(e.g., netCDF files) and haven't figured out how to generate a catalog
file using the cataloggen v0.9.3. We used a simple CatalogGen config
document obtained from
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/projects/THREDDS/tech/cataloggen/CatalogGenConfigPrimer.html
and tried the
"java -classpath
cataloggen-0.9.3.jar:jdom-b8.jar:dods.1.1.5.jar:log4j-1.2.7.jar
thredds.cataloggen.CatalogGen testconfig.xml testOut.xml" command to
generate a test file.
The THREDDS Data Server (TDS) you installed uses a built in method for
catalog generation that is different than that described in the
CatalogGen documentation you found. We are actually trying to phase out
the CatalogGen utility (or at least the current implementation of that
utility). Take a look at the TDS documentation at
http://motherlode.ucar.edu:8080/thredds/docs/ for more details. In
particular, the "Getting Started" and "Automatic Catalog Generation
using datasetScan" links contain information on configuring the catalog
generation. You can set it up even if you don't have data files but
certain requests will fail.
We got the following error in the output file:
<dataset name="Error: IOException on fullExpand() of DatasetSource
<ds source>: The accessPointHead
er local file does not exist </home/www/htdocs>." />
I guess that this was due to lack of actual data file in our machine.
After I subscribing to the mailing list, I'll be able to post
asking-for-help on such technical questions and on getting some sample
data.
Yes, I think that is due to no having any data or pointing to a
non-existent directory.
Hope this helps,
Ethan
