I have it running on a private test server but it really hasn't been
exercised yet. It does, however, start up without errors.

recommends Java 7/Tomcat 7.
On the ERDDAP Installation instructions,

it says "1.8 is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, because Java 1.7 will reach its
end-of-life in April 2015".
