I am quite aware that this is the case. I don't have a problem with Unidata
wanting to go to redirect. Just a warning and a way to test if what I have
will still work would have been helpful. If I knew a change was happening
today and all of a sudden I couldn't restart my TDS, I could pretty quickly
figure out the connection.
When I know I haven't changed anything, and am not aware of any change on your
end, and it fails, I am left pulling out what hair I have left. One large
organization we get data from, who shall go unnamed, did a redirect again
without notice, and broke all of our python scripts.
That is all. Browsers are set up to handle the redirects, and some libraries
are also. But not all libraries are so set up, and that is why just going to
redirect without warning people can cause a lot of problems.
