Hello everybody, I failed to find a previous discussion about this issue, so I'll state my suggestion below. While working with the udunits-2 library I came to the point where I wanted to know which version of the lib and the XML files I was actually using. I could not figure out any method to inquire this information from the library itself. The commandline tool has no "--version" parameter or anything and also the help screen ("-h") does not display a version number. Even more interesting would be to know the timestamp of the last change to the XML database used. I also failed to locate such information within the XML files. The only thing I could find were copyright notices which only point roughly into the right direction. So my suggestion is to add such information to upcoming versions of udunits to make it easier for people to track the changes and to find out if they are actually using the up-to-date release or not. This is of particular interest to me as I would like to include this information in other tools that use udunits. Any thoughts on this? So far I can't see any reason why this information should not be a good idea to include in an easily accessible way.
