I'd take the '/scratch/rabin/jdk1.2beta4' out of your CLASSPATH
(I don't know that it hurts, but it might).
You don't need to install visad under /scratch/rabin/jdk1.2beta4,
but should install it under /scratch/rabin.
Your problem may be that your current directory is not
/scratch/rabin/visad/data/vis5d when you run 'make' to
build the Vis5DForm .so file. So try running in that
directory.
Unfortunately, you cannot run remotely to an SGI.
Apparently Sun and SGI OpenGL are not comaptible.
