ScalarType: name cannot contain space

Hi,

Is there a (good) reason why a ScalarType name "cannot contain space . (
or )"? I'd like to create RealTypes with nice names for display purposes
(e.g. "Wind Direction") but:

visad.TypeException: ScalarType: name cannot contain space . ( or ) Wind
Direction
