Tom,
I saw your note below on updated TIFF format and it reminded me to ask a
question I've been thinking about. I seem to recall one of the users
developing a capability to export in GeoTIFF format for display with GIS
systems. Is anyone actively working on this capability within VisAD/IDV?

Subject: VisAD library update
I have updated the VisAD Library today. The updated .jar files are on the
ftp
server, as usual.
Changes to the core routines included changes to:
* TextAdapter to supress spurious text output and correct a problem with
(Text) types
* DataImpl to modify the signature for Jython's "pow" method to use
multiplies
for low-order, integer powers. This preserves Units correctly.
* Updates to the TIFF code
* Gridded2DSet and Gridded2DDoubleSet were changed to correctly check for
off-grid values. This necessitated a change to Stream2D to check for NaN
values.
* Added Zeiss LSM file support
