Hello everyone...
In response to numerous requests from the community, starting with the
next VisAD release (whenever that is), two minor changes will be made:
1. The "DATE" file which is contained in the visad.jar will now
include a revision number appended after the usual date/time. The new
file will look like this:
Tue Mar 13 12:54:53 CDT 2012 Rev:5946
2. When I send the update message around, I will direct you to a
sub-directory on the ftp server that will contain the updated JAR
files. For example:
<ftp://ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/pub/visad/5946/>
This sub-directory will clearly identify the revision number and will
be maintained on-line for a period of time, to allow easy access to
older versions.
As we are currently using "svn" for source control, the "revision
number" is the svn revision number.
Please NOTE: the updated JAR files will also be in their usual place
(at the "root" of the pub/visad directory) for your convenience.
