Version 1.10 of the Unidata units package, UDUNITS, is now available.
This package provides a stand-alone, data abstraction library for the
manipulation of units of measurement by application programs. In
particular, the udunits(3) library is a de facto standard for the
handling of `units' attributes in netCDF datasets.
New in this release of UDUNITS is an extension of the algorithms
for handling time. Prior to this release, any timestamp in a units
specification had to be a valid Gregorian date (i.e. on or after October
15, 1582 -- when the Gregorian calendar was adopted). This release
extends the concept of the Gregorian calendar back to January 1, 4713
BCE (alias Julian day number 0).
