Hi Art,
Update on status of PSU machines being ALLOWed to request
CONDUIT data directly from the WOC:
Back on January 13 I sent a note to our contact for LDM changes
at the WOC alerting them to our intention to have two PSU
machines added to the ALLOW list in their CONDUIT datastream
creation machine. I followed this up with an email detailing
which machines needed to be allowed after seeing your note
that the subnet change had been completed. I figured that this
would result in a quick change on the WOC side, but I was wrong.
The Change Management process followed by the WOC requires that
the change request be made by COB on Tuesday for a change the
following Tuesday. The change request in question, however,
is not the external one, but, rather, the one submitted by the
relevant person at the WOC. Yesterday, we got word back that
the change request had just been made, but since it was done
after Tuesday, it would not be registered unit next Tuesday.
The upshot of this is that the change will not be made at the WOC
until February 16.
It is always interesting for me to experience the difference
in how we do things in the academic world, and how operational
shops function!
Cheers,
Tom
