works with these settings:

FC=ifort F77=ifort CPPFLAGS="-I /opt/netcdf4/include/" 
LDFLAGS="-L/opt/netcdf4/lib" LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/netcdf4/lib 
./configure
