IDV 3.1 was released recently. Some of the major new features in this release include simplified capture of multi-view images and movies, enhanced labeling of latitude and longitude lines in map displays, and a new Time Matching feature that allows you to create a seamless animation of multiple displays whose data were collected at different time steps. IDV version 3.1

The Integrated Data Viewer (IDV) version 3.1 is available now. This version is recommended for all users. The latest updated can be downloaded at https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/downloads/idv/3_1.

New features since the 3.0u2 release include:

IDVPermGen Memory Allocation
Latest netCDF-Java Version
Lat/Lon Labeling
All Views Images/Movie Capture
Time Matching

Geopod Adds Teaching Tools to IDV

Professors and students from the departments of Computer Science and Earth Sciences at Millersville University are using Unidata's Integrated Data Viewer (IDV) as the platform for an application to let students explore meteorological data in three dimensions.

The application, known as the Geosciences Probe Of Discovery, or Geopod, uses the IDV's "Flythrough" facility to give the experience of navigating through 3D meteorological data sets as if in an airplane.

WRF Model Output Visualization with IDV
