NetCDF 4.7.4
Version 4.7.4 of the netCDF-C library was made available March 27, 2020. This release includes a number of enhancements.
Unidata is looking for a Software Developer
The Unidata Program Center is hiring! We are looking for a software developer to help us help our community of scientists access the Earth system science data that fuels their research. You'll focus on developing Unidata software projects including netCDF-Java, the THREDDS Data Server, Rosetta, Siphon, and other Java- and Python-based client and web technologies.
MetPy 0.12.1 Released
MetPy 0.12.1 has been released with fixes for several bugs in 0.12.0, most importantly compatibility with XArray v0.15.1.
Bringing Back the NIU Weather Server
In the spring of 2019, Northern Illinois University (NIU) applied for and received a Unidata Community Equipment Award grant for a project titled “Bringing back weather.niu.edu: A multifaced server at Northern Illinois University.” The NIU Meteorology department (now Geographic and Atmospheric Sciences) has been involved in the dissemination of meteorological data since the late 1990s.
NetCDF-Java library version 5.3.2 Released
Netcdf-Java version 5.3.2 is now available, and includes several bug fixes, 3rd party dependency updates, and more steps towards the creation of a public API, as well as new capability for reading CDM datasets stored in any AWS S3 API compatible object store.
On the Developer's Blog
Unidata Program Center developers write regularly on technical topics on the Unidata Developer's Blog. In April, developer Sean Arms took a look at what's in store for the NetCDF-Java library. The ongoing MetPy Mondays series looks at working with queues, multiprocessing, and sizing figures for publication.
