AWIPS Tips: Measuring Up - Distance Tools in CAVE
This installment of AWIPS Tips focuses on a few specific tools found in the Tools menu in CAVE, all
three of which are related to distance.
NetCDF operators (NCO) version 5.1.9
Version 5.1.9 of the netCDF Operators (NCO) has been released. NCO is an Open Source package that consists of a dozen standalone, command-line programs that take netCDF files as input, then operate (e.g., derive new data, average, print, hyperslab, manipulate metadata) and output the results to screen or files in text, binary, or netCDF formats.
Andrea Zonca and Jeremy Fischer Receive 2023 DeSouza Award
Andrea Zonca from the San Diego Supercomputing Center and Jeremy Fischer from Indiana University have been awarded the 2023 Russell L. DeSouza Award by the Unidata Users committee.

Announcing two new microlearning resources available now on Unidata eLearning. Microlearning is a modular approach to online learning that focuses on a single objective. These resources can be appended to existing activities for just-in-time foundational scaffolding in a quick five to ten minutes.

Call for Proposals: Unidata 2024 Community Equipment Awards
The Unidata Program Center is pleased to announce the opening of the 2024 Unidata Community Equipment Awards solicitation. Created under the sponsorship of the U.S. National Science Foundation, Unidata equipment awards are intended to encourage new members from diverse disciplinary backgrounds in the Earth Systems Sciences to join the Unidata community, and to encourage existing members to continue their active participation, enhancing the community process. For 2024, a total of $100,000 is available for awards; proposals for amounts up to $20,000 will be considered.
