Unidata Update: October 2021

In case you missed it — here's a recap of news from the Unidata Program Center for the month of October, 2021.

UCAR continues to follow physical distancing guidelines, and Unidata Program Center staff are continuing to work from home at this time. We're all still available by e-mail and other electronic means to help with your data and software needs. Please don't hesitate to write to us if there is something we can do to help keep your science up and running.

AWIPS Tips: Using CAVE Displays and Procedures

AWIPS Tips

This Tip helps you be productive and save time. Displays and Procedures allow you to save resources that you can reload into CAVE or share with others.

NetCDF operators (NCO) version 5.0.3

netCDF

Version 5.0.3 of the netCDF Operators (NCO) has been released. NCO is an Open Source package that consists of a dozen standalone, command-line programs that take netCDF files as input, then operate (e.g., derive new data, average, print, hyperslab, manipulate metadata) and output the results to screen or files in text, binary, or netCDF formats.

IDV Users: Please Update to IDV 6.0+

IDV

Users of the Integrated Data Viewer (IDV) are encouraged to update their installations to version 6.0 or later as soon as possible. Changes in the UCAR/Unidata web infrastructure may cause earlier versions of the IDV to perform sluggishly.

TDS Users: Update Your Configuration Now

TDS

Users of the THREDDS Data Server (TDS) are strongly encouraged to update the configuration files on their servers as soon as possible, and before they next restart their servers. Changes in the UCAR/Unidata web infrastructure will cause Web Map Service (WMS) features provided by the TDS to behave incorrectly.

Announcing a new eLearning course: Learn AWIPS CAVE

AWIPS Learning

We are announcing a new eLearning course covering the fundamentals of CAVE called Learn AWIPS CAVE. This is an asynchronous web course that can be accessed on demand.
