Cooperative Opportunity for NCEP Data Using IDD Technology (CONDUIT)

Working collaboratively with NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (in the early years), and the Unidata Program Center (UPC), and with cooperation from the university community, Unidata's Internet Data Distribution (IDD) has been used for distribution of CONDUIT high resolution model data sets. The data consist of a substantial set of the data made available on servers at the NCEP and at NWS. Information in the next section provides more details on what data are included, status, and how to get involved.

The Unidata Users Committee has created a sub-committee to facilitate model data recommendations for NCEP consideration.

CONDUIT News and Information

Evolution of CONDUIT

The CONDUIT community, working with the Collaborative Radar Acquisition Field Test (CRAFT), was responsible for developing strategies for Internet access to real time (streaming) meteorological observations, as well as output from both experimental and operational forecast models, for use by the education and research communities. CONDUIT and CRAFT began as components of the US Weather Research Program (USWRP)-Scientific Steering Committee (SSC). The SSC and the Interagency Working Group (IWG) of the USWRP recommended that the datasets be included in Unidata's Internet Data Distribution (IDD). For a few years, CONDUIT and CRAFT were merged to discuss techniques that would serve both projects. For the archived information about CONDUIT and CRAFT (C2).
