Hi Gilbert and Boris,

This is all very interesting, thanks for sharing! A couple of questions:

  1. Gilbert, in what directory on ftpprd are the METAR observations?
  2. Boris/Gilbert, theoretically would any of the sites listed on
https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/weather/asos be eligible for inclusion into the
NOAAport stream simply be emailing a request to NCO? I see several sites in NY
State that I know have been around for a while yet have never seen them on
NOAAport (e.g. K1B1 and K5B2, both AWOS3).

Best regards,

Kevin

Often, the first place new AWOS sites will show up is here. The GOMEX platforms
will be found under LA. KTAH is here.
https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/weather/asos

Any code that begins with "K" is located in the CONUS. The exception are "KQ"
sites,
which are military ASOS deployed as needed and often temporary in any one
location.

Welllll, howdy howdy, Daryl!

This is a new AWOS site in the Gulf of Mexico. I saw this pop up on the WMSCR
feed a few weeks ago, and requested it and two other new sites to be added to
NOAAport. Unfortunately, they couldn't add it before the hurricane hit.

Anyway, here it is:

KTAH - Green Canyon 641 Oil Platform, Louisiana

Lat/Lon: 27.330000, -90.710000

Elev: 65 meters

Well Howdy,

My METAR ingest noticed the addition of KTAH, found in this truncated-by-me
collective

SAUS70 KWBC 021218 RRE
METAR
KTAH 021215Z AUTO 06017G23KT 030V090 10SM FEW032 28/21 A2990 RMK
     A01=

Strangely, the only hit on google for this site is here:

https://simfly.io/marketplace/salome-airport-2/details

This site is not found in the most recent FAA AWOS database

https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/aero_data/NASR_Subscription/

Anybody know what is up with this identifier?

daryl
