Sorry,
I've forgotten to add the configure line:
./configure --enable-shared --enable-netcdf4 --disable-cxx\
--prefix=/usr/local/apps/netcdf/4.1.2-pgi106\
--with-hdf5=/usr/local/apps/hdf/hdf5_pgi106/

Hi,
I'm trying to build netcdf 4.1.2(beta) on a 64 system
running SuSE SLES10SP2. We are using the PGI10.6 compiler.
HDF5 is compiled & installed (static and shared).
Whenever I'll try to get shared libs the configure
script shows a couple of lines
checking if pgf90 supports -c -o file.o... (cached) yes
checking whether the pgf90 linker (pgf90 -m elf_x86_64) supports shared
libraries... no
checking dynamic linker characteristics... GNU/Linux ld.so
Finally everything is build, all tests are fine, but I've only
static libs. But we also need shared libs!
export CXX=pgcpp
export F77=pgf90
export FC=pgf90
export LD=pgf90
export CFLAGS="-O2"
export FFLAGS="-O2 -Msignextend"
export CPPFLAGS="-DpgiFortran"
Also I've tried to add "-fPIC" and/or "-fpic" - no success.
Any idea ?
